Structured cabling & networking in Kolkata

Structured cabling & networking for Kolkata businesses

Kolkata's traditional commercial district still sits in buildings from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries around BBD Bagh, Dalhousie, Park Street and Camac Street. High ceilings, load-bearing walls, wooden floors and shared stairwells were never meant to carry data cable, and many owners do not allow chasing into old plaster. Cabling these offices means a careful survey first, then neat surface trunking, reused service routes and a rack placed wherever stable power and ventilation can actually be provided.

A few kilometres east, Salt Lake Sector V and New Town (Rajarhat) are modern IT and ITeS hubs with tech-park towers and building management rules. Further out, the city's role as a trade and logistics gateway for eastern and north-eastern India shows in warehouses along the highways and in Howrah. We handle all three: heritage offices, IT floors and warehouses, designing the cabling, configuring switching and security, and maintaining the result under a non-comprehensive AMC if required.

Our only office is our headquarters in Bengaluru. In Kolkata, ITVerse dispatches its local technical partner once you approve the quotation, and we remain your contact for support and warranty claims.

Local considerations

What matters for structured cabling & networking in Kolkata

Heritage and older commercial buildings

In Dalhousie and Park Street buildings, we avoid cutting into original walls and ceilings wherever possible. Cable runs follow skirting lines, cornices and existing service shafts in trunking that can be removed later, and access points are mounted on brackets rather than recessed. Any landlord or heritage permission should be in place before work begins; we supply the drawings it needs.

Humidity, monsoon and power quality

Kolkata's long humid season and monsoon waterlogging are hard on electronics, especially in older buildings with ground-floor server cupboards. We site racks above flood-prone levels, add line-interactive or online UPS protection for unstable supply, and keep enclosures closed and ventilated. Preventive AMC visits can be timed before and after the monsoon to check connectors, fans and batteries.

Warehouse Wi-Fi in Howrah and beyond

Warehouses serving eastern India rely on handheld scanners that roam between tall racks, loading bays and yard offices. Steel racking and stacked goods absorb and reflect signals, so we survey with stock in place, mount access points to cover aisles end to end, and link outlying offices and gate cabins by fibre or point-to-point wireless.

FAQ

Structured cabling & networking in Kolkata: FAQs

Can you cable a heritage building without damaging it?

We plan for minimal intervention: surface trunking along existing lines, no chasing into original plaster, bracket-mounted access points and reuse of existing shafts where available. The approach and drawings are shared before work begins, so the owner or any heritage authority involved can approve them.

Is there an ITVerse office in Kolkata?

No. Our single office is in Bengaluru. Our partner attends Kolkata sites for surveys, installation and maintenance visits, and the schedule for your address is agreed in writing. Calls go to +91 81500 17386 and email to info@itverse.in.

Can you link a Sector V office with a warehouse in Howrah?

Yes. We configure firewalls or routers at both sites for a secure VPN over your internet connections, so warehouse scanners and dispatch PCs can reach systems at the office. Addressing, rules and credentials are documented and handed over to your team at the end of the project.
